Reply with quote | #1 | This is for fans of both, but especially for those in America as the events are P.P.V for Saturday 19th, and will begin at around the same time (pending on the time difference bewtween Dallas, TX and Vegas, Nevada.
I'd say this is their biggest head to head so far--though neither are showing their very top two fighters. I was wonderin' which--if any--you will be choosing to view, or woud prefer.
For me, I'd just say Mayweather V Marquez as it's showin' free over here, and it just beats the main fight at UFC 103, though Franklin is of my favourite fighters.
Though it would be an inconvienince for many, I wouldn't mind these two goin' head to head, and with UFC not havin' their biggest fights in Vegas all the time it is possible it could happen. Reminds me of when WWE and WCW went head to head on Monday Nights (Wrestlin' fans know, between '96-'99)--and the real winners were the fans. The same could happen over the coming years between UFC and Boxing. |

Reply with quote | #2 | Boxing ain't shit anymore. UFC is the now thing.
Hermes has a chin. He was getting his shit tagged, poor defensive posture of course and I thought he should have went to his strength instead of swinging wildly as he does. They say a blind squirrel can find a nut, but not on this day for Hermes. He's swinging wild, hands coming from his hip and shit. Tyson had nice technique. I thought he should have used those tree-trunk legs of his more, but he did will with the kicks, sometimes he was also a little wild in the exchanges such as when he had his leg grabbed in one. But he did not get hit since he was able to easily dodge Hermes wild hands. KO eventually on the ground in round 2, and like I said Hermes showed a chin. Still, being the assclown Hermes tries to goes to his strength in a position of extreme weakness. At least lead into your strength through your boxing. He did not do that. Can we get announcers that know what the hell they are talking about? I don't want to hear, "great exchange" where nothing happens and hands are flying. BTW Hermes has never been knocked out in the ring and he has a cool name.
Frank Trigg gets stropped by Josh on punches in round 1. His hand skills stink, again he stayed too long with the boxing. Both were not great at the boxing, but obviously Frank had some crap hand skills. He should have went to the wrestling even though Josh is a wrestler too.
In Paul Daley v. Martin Kampmann, Paul lands mad heavy shots on Martin. He stops Martin in the first round on punches. Martin tried to take Paul down earlier with a single leg takedown but to no avail. For the most part they were swinging with the hands. I think Paul actually threw an elbow or 2 early, but he definately overpowered Martin in the 1st round. lol, on that last exchange where the fight was stopped Paul was cocking back with the left hooks and landing at will. I was kind of suprised he took so long to go after Martin because he had Martin dazzed before he finished him in that last exchange.
In Robert Emerson v. Rafael Anjos, Rafael kicks effectively and looks good with the hand skills. Emerson looks tentative probably because he does not want to get taken down while throwing punches. Neither looks like a natural boxer because they are not working off of the jab. They tend to throw weak jabs out there, not with any conviction like the straight left of Rafael, or the right hooks. After 3 take down attempts Anjos gets Emerson, but too late in the round. He runs out of time before he can strike effectively on the ground or take a hold on Robert. In the 2nd round Anjos does a number on Robert's lead left leg with his hook kicks to the inside. Nice use of the kicks but Emerson has neutralized for the most part all of Anjos' take down attempts. Rafael dominates the last 2 rounds, and spends alot of round 3 mounted on Emerson who does a good job avoiding damage, but he got pushed around big time.
In Junior Santos v. Mirko Cro Cop Mirko gets hurt in round 1 when he's backed up against the cage and takes a flurry of punches. Alot of the standup seemed to be even. Mirko threw more kicks but did not land anything really punishing. Some of his straight punches seemed to be the most effective. Junior flaunts the more dominate hands skills still in the second round and takes a kick to his sack. Mirko was not very active in this round and was either taking punches or pushing off of Junior. But in the end Mirko gives up after getting his shit tagged up some more. Those knees to the face in the 3rd round will do that.
In Belfort v. Franklin, Rich gets knocked out after they don't do much but stalking most of the first round. There werre some punches traded that missed on both sides before Belfort caught Franklin who fell to his knee and then bent over like a bitch. __________________ "And then I was attacked.
